Anyone here shy ? How do you deal with it?

Iam really shy in school , I have a handfull of friends and thats it. Theres this guy that I think is cute , he's a senior and Iam a sopomore (highschool). He haves a lot of friends , and I want to go up and say hi to him , but I dont want to do it when his friends are around. Its easier if its just him , so that he'll laugh at me , not all his friends. I never see him alone , he's always with a girl or alot of people.The other day I got my friend to go up and blow him a kiss for me , and she said he liked it. Questions start running through my mind if I think about talking to him , what if he thinks Iam ugly? Too young? yada yada yada. Iam never had a guy I want,my last so called boyfriend came up to me. Iam tired of guys coming up to me , I want to go up to them. Ok iam done.
