What is the most convenient way and what is the least expensive way to get from New York to Atlantic City?

I am going to New York for three days (never been) and want to go to Atlantic City (also never been) for two days just before coming back to Minneapolis. I would rather skip the confusion and all that with transfers and have the least possible inconveniences.
