Sore Throat Remedies? blah?

Ok so my throat is hurting so bad, bad enough that I can't talk. BUT i am immune to strep according to my doctor because I inherited immunities to strep and pink eye from my mom. But that's besides the point, whenever I am about to come down with a cold, my throat is the first to suffer. I can't talk because it will hurt so much! Whats the most effective way to make my throat stop hurting?!
